Jake Against The Machine: Second Sin Battles AI With Head

Second Sin Brewing has announced that they are pitting Man vs AI, with an event dubbed "Jake Against the Machine".

In recent months, AI has become an increasingly popular topic, from chatbots to computer-generated music. Last month, we also wrote about when we asked AI about hazy IPAs in PA. Second Sin Brewing has decided to have the FIRST EVER (to our Knowledge) Head-to-Head Brewing Battle of Man vs Machine.

Second Sin's co-owner Mike Beresky had the idea to go head to head against Chat GPT, one of the largest AI chatbots, to design a beer recipe. "We were playing around with Chat GPT one weekend, and I had the idea to see what kind of beer recipe it could put together," said Beresky.

Chat GPT was told to "Write me the best hazy IPA recipe in the world". Beresky and fellow owner Phil Harris challenged their third partner, and Head Brewer Jake Howell to the battle.

After scaling the recipe to fit their brewing equipment, Howell sought to develop a competing beer, saying "It's certainly not the greatest hazy IPA ever, but I’m confident that we’ll be able to beat AI…for now."

Jake's recipe is a Double Dry Hopped Hazy IPA brewed with Citra, Nelson, Cashmere, and El Dorado, while The Machine is hopped with Mosaic and Citra.

Both beers will be released at an event being dubbed "The Fight Of the Century", on June 22nd at Second Sin's Bristol taproom.

In one corner there will be a Hazy designed by the Bearded Beauty, the Hitman of Hazy, the Sultan of Sour, the Lord of the Lager, Jake Howell! In the other corner, will be the First Hazy IPA recipe designed by Artificial Intelligence.
